"No, Blaine Anderson. No way."

"Please, Kurt? For me?"

"You think those puppy dog eyes work, when in reality, they just don't."

"Of course they work - I use them all the time."

"I humor you all the time."

Blaine frowned - well, more like pouted - at Kurt. "Why won't you go swimming with me, Kurt? What's the use of having a pool in my backyard and not using it?"

"I'm not stopping you from swimming, Blaine," snipped Kurt, crossing his arms in front of his body firmly. "I'll just be on the patio - in the shade."

"You can't be worried about burning, Kurt."

"Have you seen my skin, Blaine? I roast."

"Actually, I have seen your skin, quite close up and it's delectable."

Kurt flushed a light shade of red and Blaine snickered, stepping closer to his boyfriend and kissing his nose. "I have SPF 80, Kurt. My dad has the same complexion as you and always keeps some around. And I'm sure a pair of my swim trucks will be fine - please, Kurt. It's hot and a swim could be very refreshing."

Kurt was silent for a long moment. He finally muttered: "It's not just the burning…"

"What is it?"

"I really don't like showing that much skin," Kurt mumbled. "I avoid it if I can and that's why I mostly hate summer. Not only is my sweater and scarf collection untouchable, but layering in the Ohio summer heat can be a bitch."

"Your skin is beautiful, Kurt," said Blaine, still confused.

Kurt frowned. "You haven't seen that much of me." Kurt took a large step back, out of Blaine's reach and tightened his arms around his middle. "I'm not confident in swimsuits. I've avoided them for the last five summers and I was really, really banking on making it to six. I just….clothes are my extra skin, Blaine. Please understand that."

"I can understand it," said Blaine, trying to choose his words carefully. He took another step toward Kurt and he didn't step back this time. "But Kurt - you're beautiful. And yeah, I haven't seen all of you." Blaine blushed at this; it wasn't like he didn't want to see all of Kurt, obviously, they were just taking it slow. "But you don't have anything to be nervous about around me."

Kurt looked dubious and Blaine sighed. He reached out his hand and ran his fingertips over Kurt's cheek gently. Kurt's eyes fluttered shut and he moved into Blaine's touch.

"It's just you and me," whispered Blaine comfortingly. "It's not like we're going to a public pool. I find every part of you attractive and beautiful and perfect, Kurt, because I love you. Even the parts you don't like about yourself."

Kurt had opened his eyes when Blaine began to speak again. He reached up his hand slowly and put it on Blaine's. He sighed deeply and shook his head. "I don't deserve you," he said with a shaky breath.

"That's my line," laughed Blaine. He leaned over and pressed a chaste kiss on Kurt's lips. "But Kurt - if you truly don't feel comfortable, I will drop it. We can just stay inside and maybe write some songs for your musical."

Kurt remained silent for a long moment and then he shook his head. "No. I'll…I'll do it. It really is unbearably hot and…a swim sounds nice," Kurt said shyly.

Blaine grinned widely. He dropped his hand from Kurt's cheek, kissing him there before hurrying over to his dresser and pulling out two pairs of swim trunks. He gave the longer of the two to Kurt, who took them slowly. "You can change in here, if you'd like," said Blaine gently. "I'll go to my parents room and get you the sunblock."

Kurt nodded once. Blaine left Kurt, shutting his door behind him. When Blaine got to his parent's bathroom he changed quickly and grabbed the sunblock, hurrying back to his room. He knocked and waited for Kurt to open the door.

"Don't laugh," said Kurt softly as a preamble.

"I wouldn't dream of it."

Kurt opened the door, his arms quickly returning to rest across his stomach in self-consciousness. Blaine's eyes traveled up Kurt's body, taking in more bare skin than he had ever seen of his boyfriend. Everywhere was creamy pale skin, flawless and smooth looking - Blaine really, really wanted to find out how smooth - and much less chest hair than Blaine had.

"You're beautiful," Blaine breathed, taking a step toward Kurt and sliding an arm around Kurt's waist. Kurt's arms automatically came to rest around Blaine's waist, as well, on reflex. Both boys gasped at the sudden sensation of the bare skin of their chests meeting.

Blaine stepped back, blushing and held out the sunblock. "I'll, uh, help with this." Kurt took the bottle and put some in his own hands, rubbing it over his chest while Blaine moved toward his back cautiously.

The lotion was cold in Blaine's hands as he reached out to start smoothing it onto Kurt's back. Kurt gasped lightly and Blaine could barely think straight. To be touching Kurt like this made every fiber of Blaine suddenly feel like it was on fire.

Somehow they got through lathering Kurt up with sunblock without launching at each other. Kurt offered to put some on Blaine and he nodded, turning around. Kurt's fingers were soft and ghostlike on his skin.

Blaine turned around after Kurt was finished, his hands pulling Kurt toward him by his waist. Kurt squeaked, but fell into Blaine's chest. Blaine kissed Kurt thoroughly, never, ever wanting to wear a shirt of this was what Kurt felt like on him.

"Beautiful," Blaine whispered again. He kissed down Kurt's neck, but stopped when he met the bitter taste of sunblock.

"Are…are we going to swim soon?" asked Kurt, his voice shaking. "Not that I don't enjoy this…"

Blaine laughed and nodded, pulling Kurt by his hand down the stairs and to his sizable pool in the backyard. Blaine wasted no time jumping into the deeper end with a canon ball, but Kurt was more cautious. Finally, Blaine ended up sending a splash his way when he was about knee deep in the cold water.

"Oh no you didn't, Blaine Anderson!" said Kurt, jumping forward and tackling Blaine into the water with a burst of laughter.

The two boys fought for a few minutes, trying to drench the other as much as possible. Soon, however, they started to swim around in a more relaxed manner. At some point, Blaine swam up to Kurt and put his arms around his neck and - in a move more bold than he ever really tried - wrapped his legs around Kurt's waist, weightless in the water.

Kurt giggled and blushed, but pressed his lips to Blaine's, his taste a mixture of sunblock, chlorine and a hint of watermelon from their snack earlier. After a long and slow make out, they found themselves laying on the side of the pool in the shade a large umbrella offered them.

"Kurt?"

"Mmh?"

"I was thinking about inviting New Directions and some of the Warblers for a pool party," said Blaine. "Maybe in a few weeks?" Blaine paused. "If you would feel comfortable being in a swimsuit in front of so many people that is."

Kurt hesitated. Sure, this had been alright, but it was just Blaine. Kurt trusted Blaine much, much more than he had anyone else before.

"Maybe," he said finally. "I'll have to get used to seeing myself in a suit. Also - I'll find my own. This is a Walmart suit, isn't it?" scoffed Kurt, looking down at the blue trunks.

"They're nice," Blaine said in a defensive tone.

"Whatever you say, Blaine," laughed Kurt.

Kurt decided then that this would be the best summer he ever experienced, merely because he was experiencing with Blaine.
